Your
Wedding in Tuscany
The tradition of weddings at the Villa di Radi dates back to ancient times: all the brides of the family and the young brides of the Borgo di Radi celebrated their wedding on the property.
As well as the young Maria Luisa Bichi Ruspoli Forteguerri who, in the early 1900s, married Count Giorgio Piccolomini Clementini Adami.

The
history
The history of the Bichi Ruspoli Forteguerri family is closely connected to that of Radi estate.
The Castle of Radi di Creta, setting in the heart of Tuscany on a top of a sunny hill only few km from Siena, was already known in the 10th century and it’s mentioned in several ancient documents.
Conceived as a fortified Medieval Castle, with 4 watching towers defending Siena town from its most bitter enemies: the Florentines, it stands on a panoramic site with an infinite view precisely to see the incoming enemies from the most remote distances.
In 1365 the John Hawkood’ s mercenary Company attacked and set fire to Radi Castle that, once rebuilt, was definitely destroyed by Florence soldiers troops in 1393.

The current Villa di Radi was built by the Marquis Carlo Metello Bichi Ruspoli Forteguerri, landlord of the property, on the Castle ruins during the 17th century.
Since then the property belongs to Bichi Ruspoli Forteguerri family, that has preserved the authenticity of the historical site and its uncontaminated environments, in a unique and indescribable atmosphere.
The Villa, that is surrounded by the ancient walls, has a very interesting entrance gate opening on a large courtyard with a stone well in the center, sculpted with many coat of arms. Really interesting the eighteenth-century Chapel and the ancient garden terrace built on the medieval Castle walls, with a unique view on the crete senesi hills.
Villa di Radi with the Chapel and the farmhouse is Member of the Italian Historical House Association – ADSI – and is part of the national artistic patrimony of Italy.
