The Castle of Radi di Creta, setting on a top of a hill only few km from Siena, was already known in the 10th century and it’s mentioned in several ancient documents.
In the heart of Tuscany - the Chianti near Siena – the Castle of Radi enjoys a sunny and panoramic position: you can see all around the unique and unrepeatable panorama of the Crete Senesi, with the medieval towers of Siena in the distance.
In the middle age Radi was a fortified Castle with 4 watching towers defending Siena town where, until 1271, had his residence a Captain sent there from Siena’s Council.
In 1365 the John Hawkood’ s mercenary Company attacked and set fire to Radi Castle that, once rebuilt, was definitely destroyed by Florence soldiers troops in 1393.

The current Villa di Radi was built by the Marquis Carlo Metello Bichi Ruspoli Forteguerri , landlord of the property, on the Castle ruins during the 17th century. Since then the property belongs to Bichi Ruspoli Forteguerri family, that has preserved the authenticity of the historical site and its uncontaminated environments, in a unique and indescribable atmosphere.
The Villa, that is surrounded by the ancient walls, has a very interesting entrance gate opening on a large courtyard with a stone well in the center, sculpted with many coat of arms. Really interesting the eighteenth-century Chapel and the ancient garden terrace built on the medieval Castle walls, with a unique view on the crete senesi hills.

The present owners, Ridolfo and Enrichetta Bichi Ruspoli Forteguerri, personally supervise the residence in all details and welcome the guests, in order to ensure that they be offered a top quality treatment.
Villa di Radi with the Chapel and the farmhouse is Member of the Italian Historical House Association - ADSI - and is part of the national artistic patrimony of Italy.

Villa and Fattoria di Radi Siena is located near the most ancient and richest Tuscany art towns, such as Siena (12 km), Florence (70 km), Arezzo (72 Km.), in a strategic position to visit Chianti, Val d'Orcia e Pienza, Montalcino area, Maremma and all Tuscany's natural and artistic treasures.
The Villa and Village are at the centre of a very large organic farm (more than 1000 h.) still producing: olives oil, cereals and fodder. In the fields which surround the Village you can find 3 small natural lakes and walking around you can observe wild animals such as pheasants, squirrels and deer, or Chianina cattle. Also ideal for outdoor sports (click on button!) and bike excursions. We are on EROICA BIKE ROAD and on VIA FRANCIGENA> ancient white road for pilgrims The hospitality is offered in the medieval farmhouse CERRETO, just next to the Villa di Radi, in 5 completely furnished apartments with independent entrance, exclusive garden and swimming pool. Each Apartment has different size and is elegantly different styled, with wood ceiling and cotto floor (please look at the photos). Each one has a private terrace or a private gazebo in the garden well equipped with table, chairs and barbecue.
The property also includes 2 charming suites with bed and breakfast accommodation.

In the Village there is a Café and Snack point “Sapori di Radi” with garden, where our guests can taste a typical Italian breakfast (included in the price on request) and a selection of the best local wines.
